I got up on the morning of Sat 8th July with a whole swarm of
butterflies in my stomach in anticipation of my tandem freefall
parachute jump, which was due to happen at Old Buckenham
Airfield, Attleborough at 12:30 hours. We arrived at the
airfield early and were shortly met by a team of supporters from
the kennels.

The Support team arrives at the
Airfield complete with pets

The
team settles down with a cuppa, hope the grass isn't damp

Including Wolf the puppy
Malamute, who Karen is fostering at present.
It helped calm
my nerves a little to see everyone there to support me.
I was called forward and kitted out with my parachute outfit,
harness and
rather attractive hat and goggles. I wondered where my parachute
was.

Karen kitted out looks for her Parachute or Motorbike
I and all the
other jumpers were given 15 minutes ground training, we
then signed our life's away. Before we knew it we were sat on
the floor
of a small aircraft climbing to over 2 miles high, each strapped
to their
instructor, sitting on their laps. Not a very comfortable or
dignified flight.

The team either spots Karen or
is it a pose for the Catalogue
We all sat
there with manic grins giving the thumbs up to each other.
Soon we had the 2 minute warning and the aircraft door was
opened,
outside all I could see was clouds. WHAT AM I DOING I THOUGHT.
I didn't have time to change my mind as I was first out.
We stood in the doorway and then we were gone.
We then free-falled for just over a mile, flying through
the cloud until I could see the ground.

Here comes Karen, complete with Parachute and Instructor
Words are
difficult to find to describe the feeling of freefall.
A word I apparently used quite a lot, so I am told by the guy
who was filming me was, WOW!!!! The freefall lasted about
45 seconds then the parachute opened and we had
a fantastic view of the Norfolk countryside.

The
Eagle....... errr Karen has landed
On landing I
was met by the trust supporters and ground crew.

A
bit wobbly from her 120 Mph experience, but in one piece
I think I had
the biggest grin anyone has seen, which lasted all day.

Wow!!!!! Can I go again?
It was an
absolutely fantastic experience that I will never forget.

Re-living the experience
brings out many emotions,
or did she leave her purse on the plane
Would I do it
again? Absolutely.

Over and done with... Karen
wonders if they'll let her keep the suit & helmet?
I'm not too
sure how much I have raised but I think it is close to £300.
A few coppers for our unfortunate friends who come into our love
and care.
Karen.
