Dogs in need of a good home

If you are considering a pet, please look through the list
of dogs below who are in need of a good home.

If any of these dogs are of interest to you, please
contact us for further details. Thank you.

PLEASE READ... It's a fact that we do get a rather disproportionate quantity of Greyhounds to other breeds at our kennels, which is due to the local Greyhound track, up the road. When people decide they want to adopt a dog, Greyhounds are often overlooked, mainly due to a misconception about the breed, such as; they need lots of exercise, they eat a lot, are dangerous, bad tempered, no character, etc. Nothing could be further from the truth and for this reason, I would ask you to read the attached article before you decide to dismiss the idea of having a Greyhound as a pet. You will be missing out on a pet who'll be more suitable than many other breeds, be fine loyal companion for you and your family. Please remember, Greyhounds are in the kennels because they can't race anymore, not because they are unsuitable as pets, please remember this. Greyhound as a pet article

History

Patch is 10 years old, neutered, and vaccinated.  He is house clean, good on a lead, travels well, and loves people and children, and mixes well with other dogs on a lead. On no account can he be

trusted with cats.

He is big, beautiful, gentle, and has quite a character, is strong and healthy, and loves his food !!

For the past few months, Patch has been living in a foster home, and although he mixes with other dogs, we would prefer him to be homed as an only dog, to a quiet home where he can enjoy a garden, and to be taken out for his walks on a lead - which he really enjoys.

He had a very short racing life, and was kept by his owner as a family pet - so he is used to a family home life. His owner reluctantly had to give this gorgeous boy up due to ill health.

If you can help Patch, please contact us.

History

Tina is a four year old, spayed greyhound who is very happy and bouncy. She is good with older kids and most other dogs, she enjoys walking with Sam and would make any family complete with her presence.  She is the one laying down in the background.

Ideally to be homed with Tina but can be separated.

:  OK with children 7 and up.  Tina eats anything and enjoys fetching but isn’t mad on playing, she likes to run with you but most of all be petted.  She loves to sunbath in the garden or snooze on the sofa.  She loves chewy things like rind sticks. Tina rolls around on her back when she's hot indoors and leaves her legs up in the air looking very funny!

Tina knows when she has been naughty and knows 'out'!  She will always want fuss but will be happy to do her own thing if u are busy.  She needs to be muzzled when with out on walks and with other dogs.  She is very confident on the lead and will inspect everything. She likes to meet new people and lean on them while stroked on the belly.  She is not protective of food but will guard her bones. She travel well in car.

If you can help Tina, please contact us.

History

Sam is a very underweight greyhound who came to us from another rescue centre where he was not coping well at all.

Ideally to be homed with Tina but can be separated.  Sam is the one standing in the foreground.

Male, 4 ½ year old, Neutered.  He needs a calm friendly environment, with lots of playtime and love.   Sam doesn’t know many commands but will come to you and responds well to praise. He wants to know where you are and lay near your feet, he loves fuss especially on the belly and will nuzzle you if he requires anything more.  Sam has the best ears which have a life of their own and he is a dog guaranteed to be your best and most entertaining friend.

Just had his teeth cleaned so he has a lovely white smile and has been neutered, wormed, Frontlined.   Sam loves to eat ANYTHING.  Sam circles when nervous or excited sometimes barks and spins for a short time.   This can be interrupted easily and is declining now that he is in a foster home.  Travels well in the car.

Sam should not be homed with children under 10-12, cats or small animals.   He should be muzzled in areas where other dogs or small animals running around.   He loves woodland, open green and the dunes.  His favourite pastime is watching t.v, specifically blue peter, property shows, music channels and eastenders.

If you can help Sam, please contact us.
