Adoption Procedure

Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from NASAT. Our mission is to ensure every dog finds a safe and loving home, and that every adopter feels confident and supported throughout the journey.

How to Adopt a Dog?

Adopting a rescue dog is a rewarding experience, but it’s also a commitment. Our process is designed to make sure each dog is matched with the right family. From viewing dogs and submitting an application, to meeting your potential new companion and completing a home check, we’ll guide you through every step.

Stage 1: Getting Started

1. Viewing Dogs

  • Browse all available dogs on our website.
  • New arrivals appear first on our Facebook page — check regularly for updates.

2. Application Process

  • If you see a dog you’re interested in, please complete our application form.
  • Appointments are only offered once we’ve received your application — please don’t call to bypass this step.
  • Applications cannot be accepted from homes with children under 10 years old.

3. Application Review

  • Our team will assess your application against the needs of the dog.
  • If successful, we’ll contact you to arrange your first appointment.

Stage 2: Meeting the Dogs

4. First Meeting

  • You’re welcome to bring household members.
  • To avoid overwhelming the dog, we may limit the number of visitors (usually no more than 2).
  • You’ll spend time at the kennels and may take the dog for a walk (unless restricted for medical reasons).

5. Dog Introductions (if you own a dog)

  • A second meeting will be arranged to introduce your dog(s).
  • Multiple visits may be needed to ensure compatibility and confidence for everyone.

6. Home Check

  • Two team members will visit your home to assess outdoor space, safety, and suitability.
  • We’ll advise on any improvements needed.
  • No garden? That’s okay — some dogs thrive with daily exercise, depending on breed and needs.
  • Home checks are tailored to each dog, not a blanket pass/fail.

Stage 3: Adoption & Support

7. Deposit

  • If your home check is successful, a £50 non-refundable deposit secures your chosen dog.

8. Collection & Final Payment

  • On collection day, you’ll receive:
  • Dog profile with microchip number & feeding info
  • Vet report
  • All known medical conditions are disclosed before adoption.
  • Final adoption fee: £250 (due on collection).
  • You’ll sign the adoption paperwork, and your dog is ready to start their new life with you!

9. Post-Adoption Support

  • We’ll check in later the same day and the following day.
  • Our team is always available to help with any concerns or questions.
