Where it all started

The Norfolk & Suffolk Animal Trust (NASAT) has been rescuing, caring for, and rehoming dogs for over 40 years.

What began in 1979 with two sisters, Muriel and Iris Castle, and a small group of animal lovers, has grown into a trusted charity dedicated to giving dogs a second chance at life.

Making a Difference Today

The kennels on Fremantle Road, once the police pound for stray dogs, are now a safe haven run entirely by the Norfolk & Suffolk Animal Trust. Thanks to the dedication of our team, generous legacies, and ongoing community support, we’ve been able to improve and maintain the kennels to a high standard.

With the help of our shop in Gorleston, our volunteers, and kind donations from supporters, NASAT continues to provide food, shelter, veterinary care, and love to dogs in need — until they find their forever homes..

Alison is also a devoted dog lover, with five dogs of her own. Her oldest, Hazel, was born at the kennels and is about to celebrate her 13th birthday.

Junior

Junior and his team are our dedicated dog trainers here at NASAT.

They work closely with all new arrivals to the kennels, assessing any behavioural issues and creating personalised training plans to address them. This ensures that the dogs in NASAT's care are managed safely for our volunteers and staff, and helps make their transition into a new home as smooth as possible.

SOS K9 hold 17 professional certificates, covering areas such as aggression, bite prevention, reactivity, canine psychology, and more.

With years of hands-on experience and proven results, our passion runs deeper than a career, it’s in our blood and part of our family history. We are committed to helping you understand your dog’s behaviour and to building lasting trust between you and your companion.

In addition to working with families, we also work with & train other professionals in the field, because we strongly believe that teamwork makes the dream work.

Our aim is simple: to create well-balanced dogs you can trust.

Remember to stay calm, cool, and confident
